F.A.Q. What is a wet underfloor heating system?
A wet underfloor heating installation is just heated water flowing
through plastic pipes under a floor. like central heating radiator pipes, the term WET reffers to water in the
pipes. you have wet underfloor heating. and DRY ellectric underfloor heating. this is the most popular question..
Types of installations
INSTALLATION 1: Pipe in screed method. layed
under a solid floor scread
INSTALLATION 2: Pipe in joist method.
layed between wooden joist's
Pipe in screed method is usually applied to
a ground floor of a building or, if required in an appartment type building where the floor has a solid concteate slab
Pipe in joist method
requires the underfloor heating pipes to run under the floor boards, between the wooden joists and without having to raise
the floor hight
It’s now generally accepted that underfloor heating (UFH)
offers distinct advantages over warm air systems and radiators. It is the most comfortable form of heating because of its
high radiant content, it’s completely unobtrusive, it’s safer and more hygienic.
However, in the midst of a drive for a low carbon economy,
with interest in renewable energy increasing day by day, it’s worth reconsidering why UFH is also more energy-efficient.
As from 6th April 2006, anyone undertaking the repair/ renovation
of the existing roof, walls or floor construction of a building, which involves the replacement of over 25% of the relevant
area of the ' Thermal Element ', will require Building Regulation approval. This is the first time the Government has sought
to control the repair/ renovation of the existing elements of a building. The repair/ renovation work will need to include
the upgrading of the ' thermal element ' to the new thermal insulation requirements.
